Here's my girls!
An unexpectedly good day today! I LOVE those! I had a moment of prayer/reflection before walking into my school in the Bronx today, saying out loud "PLEASE let this be a good day, PLEASE let this be a good day"- and it was!
I witnessed the greatest literature circle EVER come out of 5 of my 6th grade ESL students, which made me want to cry tears of joy. It was so wonderful to hear them talk respectfully and knowledgeably to each other. Seriously, there was a miracle happening at that blue table filled with 11 year olds.
Despite the good day in school, I rushed out of there the second I could to get home. FRIDAY! The rejoicing will never stop for Fridays as a teacher. I came home and checked e mail, had a conversation with Dan about our respective schools, and then fell asleep before my friend Alison
showed up. We were going to eat Ethiopian food! Hurrah! Ethiopian is becoming one of my new favorite types of food! Can't get enough! Here's where the silliness took over.

It was Alison, me and our friend Kyla (all traveled to Brazil together last summer) and we dined on the spongy pancake stuff filled with different meats, sauces and veggies. Kyla suggested a beer afterwards, so we walked up the hazy street (it was so foggy last night, and so warm!) to an Irish bar and watched the Yankees/Red Sox on TV and talked away.
Kate, and her man-friend Dave showed up soon enough, we sat together for another drink and then the ladies went home, while Kate, Dave and I checked out another little bar on the Upper East Side. We even ran in to ANOTHER friend of ours from our program at The Auction House, a swanky
little side-street bar, and just had a really fun night out talking!

By the end of the night, we were ready for pizza (a sad side effect of going out too late in New York City- all roads usually lead to pizza after about midnight) and got DRENCHED walking home!
Also, Dave likes to eat random inspirational street furniture. Yay Dave!
