We're blowin' up!

I couldn't choose which picture to go with for this July 4th. It was one of those things where the lighting wasn't working perfectly either way. This was taken from the park by our apartment along the East River. We had high hopes of getting the best seat in the house (Manhattan) for the Macy's fireworks, but apparently we weren't the only ones. My view was slightly clouded by a lamp post and several umbrellas and dumb people. Lovin' the summer crowds in NYC (see Philharmonic post).
Anyway, the night sky lit up, even though it was drizzling, but all was well. We saw better fireworks once we trotted home. Boston's show was pretty awesome set to music and not rainy.
I woke up with a master plan this morning. It included barbecue chicken drumsticks (which was realized, but not so much with the grill...something with the coals.), potato salad- made it JUST like my mom, and chocolate chip cookies- made THEM just like my mom too! Yay! The food was good, except for the chicken debacle. I played much Wii today, and cooked/baked, and that's what 4th of July is about! I was with my New York family (Dan) and that's a pretty good consolation prize for not being on Gull Lake for the 4th of July!
